Emerging Leadership in Action

Adam Fisher’s Growth Through the STEERBRIDGE Emerging Leaders Program

At STEERBRIDGE, leadership isn’t left to chance. It’s built with purpose through strategic investment in people. The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), launched in 2025, reflects this commitment. The initiative equips high-potential employees with the tools, perspective, and confidence to grow into influential leaders.

Adam Fisher, program manager, became the second participant in the ELP. His story highlights how focused development cultivates leadership strength. Adam entered the role with no prior experience managing people—an exciting challenge and a tremendous opportunity. Rather than placing him into the position without support, STEERBRIDGE enrolled him in the ELP to help him build the foundational skills necessary to succeed as a new manager.

A Strategic Opportunity

When STEERBRIDGE selected Adam for the ELP, he welcomed the opportunity to deepen his leadership capabilities. “As a new manager, I told Rob I wanted to develop my leadership abilities. I was very thankful,” he said.

With STEERBRIDGE as his first full-time professional experience, Adam saw the program as a valuable foundation for his growth. He aimed to strengthen both his technical understanding and his interpersonal leadership skills.

Lessons From the American Management Association

As part of the program, Adam completed a leadership course with the American Management Association. He connected with professionals from a range of industries and found common ground in their leadership challenges.

“It was enlightening to hear others describe the same hurdles I’ve faced,” Adam said. “It showed me that no matter our roles, we all want to support and grow our teams.”

One of the most impactful takeaways: empower your team. “Managers shouldn’t micromanage. They need to provide the right tools and allow their teams to succeed,” he said. This insight transformed his approach, reinforcing the value of communication, accountability, and trust.

Putting Leadership Into Practice

Adam began applying his new skills immediately. He now prioritizes regular, open communication with his teams—especially those working remotely. “I make it a point to check in consistently, share updates, and stay connected,” he said.

He continues shifting from a transactional management style to one rooted in mentorship. “Finding the right balance between offering guidance and giving team members ownership is a challenge, but I’m working to master it.”

As his team grows, Adam focuses on aligning everyone around shared objectives. “Not everyone will always agree, but if I can identify win-win solutions, we can move forward together,” he said.

Continuing the Leadership Journey

Adam remains committed to growth. He is pursuing additional certifications in contract and program management and actively seeks insight from more experienced leaders at STEERBRIDGE to broaden his perspective.

Reflecting on the ELP, he shared, “A manager’s success depends on their team’s success. That, in turn, shapes the success of the company. It’s all connected.”

He encourages future ELP participants to approach the experience with curiosity. “Every course has something valuable to offer. If you’re open to learning, your leadership can grow in ways you didn’t expect.”

Preparing STEERBRIDGE for the Future

For Adam, the ELP marked a turning point in his leadership approach. As STEERBRIDGE continues to expand, programs like the ELP ensure that its leadership bench deepens in tandem—with individuals prepared to lead with clarity and purpose.

“It’s a great opportunity for growth and development for new leaders who want to make an impact on the company,” Adam said.

With emerging leaders like Adam Fisher taking initiative—and receiving support— STEERBRIDGE’s future is in capable hands.
