LOCATION

This is a remote position. Candidates non-local to the Washington D.C. area will be expected to travel to the AFS office in Chantilly, Virginia, 5-6 times a year (funded by the project).

Candidates local to St. Louis, MO, San Antonio, TX, or Charleston, SC, will be expected to travel to the AFS site in these cities throughout the duration of the contract.

REQUIRED

  • Must be a US Citizen, Dual Citizen, or Green Card holder (Permanent Resident).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other Engineering or Technical discipline plus a minimum of eight (8) years related work experience. Eight (8) years additional relevant experience may be substituted for education, for a total of thirteen (13) years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be eligible and able to pass a Public Trust background check.
  • Must be willing to travel to the D.C. area 5-6 times a year (funded by the project).
  • Must be able to work East Coast hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for agile development life cycle with application design, construction and testing of Java applications and Web Services.
  • Perform the detailed design of application and identify reusable components to support overall project requirements.
  • Configure, build, and test the application or technical architecture components.
  • Follow good security coding practices to ensure the application is free of most common coding vulnerabilities.
  • Conform Code quality, code performance, code security and participate in code reviews.
  • Inform the Technical Architect and Project Manager of any issues that may affect any other areas of the project.
  • Work with other developers, designers, and architects to make sure that the configuration and custom components meet performance goals.
  • Fix any defects and performance problems discovered in testing.
  • Document the application to facilitate maintenance.

The Java Developer is responsible for participating in the full agile application development life cycle for new development design, construction and testing of Java applications, Web Services (SOAP and REST), and reusable components to support overall project. The developer must be able to create software in Java programming and for a variety of IT software applications and have experience analyzing technical needs and developing and debugging code with design objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • performing day to day querying and analysis using SQL queries and procedures, and script execution to enhance understanding of data within a consolidated data store;
  • considering amorphous problem sets or functional requirements to determine path forward on creating the query to support end user business needs;
  • migration of queries, including conversion of syntax, from Postgres DB to a Redshift data store;
  • develop materialized views, stored procedures and scheduled queries;
  • analyze existing queries for performance improvement and optimize runtime against Redshift database; and
  • provide upskilling to team members and knowledge share usability and optimization techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work with developers, team leads, and test sites to identify and architect test plans, execute tests, document results, and triage defects.
  • Ensure test environments are set up accurately prior to test execution.
  • Coordinate with test sites and other team participants to plan test events.
  • Analyze and identify suitable opportunities for test automation, develop automation components/modules using appropriate tools and programming languages, and carry out test automation script/cases to include identify/logging issues, and provide support during issue resolution process.
  • Support test automation solution planning and estimation.
  • Integrate test automation with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS 
Required: 

  • 1-year of work experience working in the software development life cycle including hands on experience with Quality Assurance/Testing (application, product, system, integrated, regression testing)
  • Experience interacting with the client/customer

Preferred: 

  • 1-year hands-on experience with automated testing tools (Worksoft Certify, HP UFT/BPT, Tricentis Tosca, or Selenium framework)
  • Experience with a programming language (VB, VBScript, Java, C#, Ruby, Python) and core Java knowledge with OOP concepts

POSITION OVERVIEW
SteerBridge Strategies seeks a Tier 1 Help Desk Technician. In partnership with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), we are supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in its commitment to creating an interactive experience for its technology users that is easy, pleasant, effective, and personalized. As part of this commitment, the VA is seeking to improve its efficiency and effectiveness of interactions by transitioning Tier-1, Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) Services to the team at GDIT. The scope of the ESD is to provide support to all End Users and VA designated executives / VIP End Users, on a 24x7x365 basis.

As a Tier 1 Help Desk Technician, you will assist in operating an environment where all incidents, problems, requests, change and service requests for end-users are received, monitored, tracked, and worked to resolution, or handed over to other resolving stakeholders/parties as required.

PLACE OF PERFORMANCE

  • Due to COVID-19, all staff are currently working from home.
    In the instance that the Veteran Affairs government offices open, employees may be required to work onsite.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must live in or near Bossier City, LA
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in related field OR equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 1+ year Help Desk work experience.
  • Must pass testing and practicums in training (provided by GDIT).
  • Must possess multi-channel skill sets: phone, email, text, and chat.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing accurate information to customers, enabling a high first call resolution rate.
  • Must be skilled in providing courteous, customer-friendly, high-quality service.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Previous experience working on civilian federal government agency contract(s).

RESPONSIBILITIES
Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Handle incoming contacts via electronic media such as:
    • Telephone (via toll-free access numbers).
    • Electronic mail.
    • SMS/text messaging.
    • Web-Chat submissions.
    • Self-service web portal.
  • Act as the single interface and Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for all communications with and between end-users and resolver groups regarding all incidents and tickets.
  • Provide end-to-end ownership and ticket management through either direct resolution or escalation / interaction with appropriate resolver groups.
  • Provide end-to-end ownership of all tickets, including logging, categorizing, prioritizing, and recording resolutions.
  • Provide timely response to all tickets based on priority and impact.
  • Communicate status of incidents to end-users as status changes.
  • Transfer the incident to the appropriate work queue as required.
  • Immediately perform a warm transfer to the appropriate application resolver group for applications issues.
  • Provide and maintain ownership of service request (SR) lifecycle (end-to-end ownership) and provide timely response to SR’s based on priority.
  • Communicate status of SRs to end-users as status changes.
  • Transfer the SR to the appropriate resolver group as required.
  • Maintain oversight for monitoring, controlling, and ensuring timely resolution of SRs.
  • Escalate urgent, business critical, and VIP (if option exercised) SRs according to established procedures.
