Elizabeth Rickert, Proposal Manager on the Growth Team, echoed that statement:
“I came to SteerBridge because I was seeking a mission-oriented organization that invests in its people. SteerBridge offered both through an impactful mission and the opportunity to grow. Since joining, I’ve been able to deepen my expertise while contributing to work that supports our nation’s veterans and National Security.”
Adam Fisher brings talent, experience, and hard work to the company. He originally started working for SteerBridge in 2021 and now works as a Program Manager:

Max Ashton reflected on his first role out of college:

We are so lucky to have many young voices that are as passionate about the mission of SteerBridge.
Why They Stay: Culture, Mission, and Teamwork
Joining SteerBridge is one thing, but continuing to grow in their career here is another. Each employee of SteerBridge has their own reason for continuing to build their career here, but themes of purpose, teamwork, and support are shown through every answer.
Josh Powanda, who joined SteerBridge in February 2025 and now works as a Program Analyst on the Growth Team, shared:
“I very much value the ability to service our federal customers in a way that enhances mission operability and functionality, supports the warfighter and veteran post-service, and provides innovative technology, programmatic, and modernization solutions to the agencies that rely on our capabilities. At SteerBridge, I have the unique opportunity to do so in coordination with an amazing team of dedicated specialists, analysts, and subject matter experts.”
As Corporate Operations Associate, Sarah Stussi is the backbone of day-to-day office operations. Her favorite part of SteerBridge:
“The culture of excellence, teamwork, and support that make it an amazing environment to learn and grow in. The people here are the lifeblood of this culture, allowing me to easily create strong professional bonds with my colleagues that give me the confidence and reinforcement to take on new responsibilities, ask questions, and push myself.”
Patrick Casey, a Payment Analyst on the finance team who joined in August, said:
“My favorite part about working at SteerBridge is the supportive, family-like environment. The weekly syncs, Monday lunches, and constant readiness to help each other are just a few things that have made my time here both meaningful and rewarding.”
It is evident that young employees are looking for a place where they can share their passion for helping people and making an impact, and they have found that at SteerBridge.
The People Who Shape Their Path: Mentorship at SteerBridge
The passion and commitment of SteerBridge’s young professionals is amplified by the leadership and mentorship they receive. Every SteerBridge member could name at least one mentor who played a meaningful role in their growth, which is proof of SteerBridge’s supportive culture.
Sarah Frie, who has worn many hats, from writing proposals to running the summer intern program to now supporting the Program Analyst teams, credits two leaders for shaping her development and time at SteerBridge:
“Throughout my time at SteerBridge, I have been fortunate to have two exceptional female mentors in Lisa Wertz and Kate Murray. Lisa consistently assigns projects that push me to gain new skills and grow professionally; while ensuring I have the coaching, guidance, and support needed to succeed. Kate is always willing to take the time to explain projects, events, and the Marine Corps, helping me have a deeper understanding on the impact of SB’s work and military practices. Having strong female mentors like Lisa and Kate has been especially meaningful, and I am deeply grateful for their investment in my development; I would not be as professionally effective today without their encouragement and example.”
For Krista Beckett, HR Manager, mentorship has been central to her career with SteerBridge as well. She credits much of her growth and enthusiasm to her mentor and supervisor, Bill Gray:
“Bill has greatly influenced my time here by being a valuable resource and always welcoming my questions, even when they aren’t directly part of his role. He consistently takes the time to teach those around him, sharing his knowledge in a way that helps everyone grow. His positive attitude and sense of humor create a fun, engaging work environment that makes each day enjoyable.”
SteerBridge would not be what it is today without the examples of leadership they follow.
Looking Ahead
The voices of the young employees highlight exactly what makes SteerBridge special: a mission that matters, a culture that supports growth, and a team that truly believes in developing the next generation of leaders. These young professionals are not just contributors; they also help shape the foundation for the future of SteerBridge. Their passion, talent, and drive are helping move the organization forward, and we can’t wait to see where they lead us next.
