From the AH-1 to the F-35

STEERBRIDGE’s Aviation Heritage and Vision for the Skies Ahead

As the nation celebrates National Aviation Day on August 19, STEERBRIDGE honors its deep roots in Marine Corps aviation and the legacy of innovation that has propelled us forward—from the pioneering spirit of the Wright brothers to the cutting-edge capabilities of the F-35.

At STEERBRIDGE, our commitment to excellence in Defense Aviation is more than professional; it is personal. Our team includes numerous Marine Corps pilots and aviation subject matter experts (SMEs), each of whom brings a legacy of service, leadership, and technical mastery to the mission. These leaders have flown aircraft spanning generations of Marine aviation, from the venerable MV-22 to the next-generation F-35B Lightning II.

Honoring the Aviators Who Paved the Way

Greg Summa
Among our standout aviation leaders is Greg Summa, a professional aviator and former Commanding Officer with over 25 years of aviation experience and more than 4,000 flight hours. As the Commanding Officer of the USMC F-35B Fleet Replacement Squadron, he led over 600 personnel from the U.S., U.K., and Australia, producing more than 40 F-35B pilots and overseeing 6,400 flight hours annually. Greg played a pivotal role in standing up the first operational F-35B squadron in the Department of Defense, shaping F-35 maintenance and sustainment policy for both U.S. and U.K. forces, and authoring the initial F-35B Training and Readiness Manual. His leadership mirrors the same audacity and vision the Wright brothers exhibited over 120 years ago.
Mike Erickson
Mike “Shaky” Erickson served over two decades as a Marine Corps CH-46E pilot, amassing extensive operational leadership experience across four combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From flying with the “Evil Eyes” of HMM-163 and the “Moonlighters” of HMM-764 to serving as CH-46 Operational Test Director with Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) in direct support of two U.S. Presidents, Mike’s career blends expeditionary aviation expertise with high-profile mission execution. His later assignments at the Pentagon and Headquarters Marine Corps shaped Marine Aviation budget policy and resourcing at the enterprise level. Today, as STEERBRIDGE’s F-35 Senior Program Analyst, “Shaky” leverages his blend of operational and strategic experience to advance readiness solutions for the next generation of Marine Corps aviation.
Mike Rountree
Mike “Gravy” Rountree brings exceptional mission leadership experience as a Marine Corps aviator with over 2,500 flight hours across a 22-year career. A former AV-8B Harrier pilot with combat deployments to Iraq, he led flight operations off the USS BOXER and USS TARAWA. Mike helped stand up the initial cadre at VMFAT-501, flying the F-35B Lightning II, and later commanded VMFA-121 across the First Island Chain, operating from Australia, Singapore, the Philippines, Japan, Alaska, and the USS WASP. As a Mission Commander, Weapons and Tactics Instructor, and F-35 Instructor Pilot, his operational experience continues to shape STEERBRIDGE’s readiness solutions with a focus on precision, agility, and mission-driven innovation.
Sam Wayne
Sam Wayne brings 25 years of Marine Corps service as a KC-130 Flight Engineer, with over 8,000 flight hours. His career includes roles as Squadron NATOPS Instructor, Night System Instructor, and Crew Resource Management Instructor. Sam’s leadership extended to managing enlisted aircrew operations for the last KC-130T squadron in 4th MAW, overseeing complex transitions to newer aircraft models, and coordinating global aviation operations. His deep maintenance and operational expertise now supports STEERBRIDGE’s aviation projects with a focus on safety, efficiency, and mission execution.
Ronald Beville Jr.
Ronald “Beau” Beville Jr. offers over 24 years and 9,000 flight hours of KC-130J aviation training expertise. A former C-130 Navigator and Loadmaster for the Blue Angels’ “Fat Albert” aircraft, Beau has served as a NATOPS Model Manager, Instructor Evaluator, and senior enlisted leader for multiple Marine aviation units. His career spans training pipeline oversight, tactical employment instruction at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One, and operational deployments worldwide. At STEERBRIDGE, Beau applies his extensive instructional and operational background to enhance training systems and readiness for aviation programs.
Anthone Wright
Anthone Wright brings over three decades of distinguished Marine Corps service in aviation logistics and sustainment leadership. As a former commander of Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29 and Director of Logistics Capability Delivery for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program, he has orchestrated support strategies that impact global readiness. His experience spans expeditionary operations, high-level programmatic oversight at the Pentagon, and private-sector innovation, including leadership roles at Boeing supporting sustainment for the P-8A, F/A-18, and V-22 platforms. At STEERBRIDGE, Anthone serves as a key aviation logistics SME, shaping data-driven sustainment solutions for F-35 operations with precision and mission-first focus.

Each pilot and aviation SME at STEERBRIDGE has been handpicked not only for their aviation expertise but for the operational insight they provide. Their lived experience in the cockpit and command center now directly supports the next evolution of aviation readiness.
