Canandaigua VAMC

Canandaigua VAMC

SSPC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is proud to be supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in enhancing the infrastructure of the Canandaigua VA Medical Center (VAMC). Our team, comprised of Veteran construction managers, electrical engineers, architects, and mechanical engineers, brings a unique blend of skills and perspectives to this critical project.

Enhancing Veteran Care Facilities

The Canandaigua VAMC project is part of the VA's broader initiative to modernize its aged infrastructure and invest in facilities that focus on community living and healing. This approach aligns with the VA's national planning strategy, which emphasizes the importance of providing Veterans with care environments that support their well-being and recovery.

Key Projects and Skills

Phase 1 of Canandaigua VAMC Improvements:

➡️  Outpatient Clinic Consolidation: Phase 1 included the construction of a new 84,000 square foot Outpatient Clinic, consolidating all clinic services under one roof. This modern facility enhances the delivery of healthcare services by providing a centralized and efficient environment for patient care.

➡️  Infrastructure Upgrades: The phase also involved the construction of a new chiller/emergency generator plant, ensuring reliable power and climate control systems. Additionally, new power and water systems were installed, and temporary facilities for the Laboratory and Main Kitchen were established to support ongoing healthcare operations during the construction period.

➡️  Renovations and Demolitions: The demolition of Building 2 was completed, and 85,000 square feet of existing facility space were renovated. Upgrades to existing roadways and site utilities further improved the campus infrastructure.

Phase 2 Developments:

➡️  Community Living Center (CLC): Phase 2 focuses on constructing a new CLC complex, featuring eight long-term care cottages capable of serving up to 96 Veterans. The complex includes a community center, designed to provide a supportive and homelike environment for residents.

➡️  Building Renovations: Renovations are underway for Buildings 3 and 9 to support the CLC and establish a domiciliary. The demolition of Buildings 33 and 34 has been completed to make way for the CLC complex.

Unique Aspect of Veteran Construction Managers

Having Veteran construction managers overseeing the construction of a Veteran hospital is particularly significant. These individuals bring a personal understanding of the importance of providing high-quality care environments for fellow Veterans. This unique perspective allows them to tailor the project's execution to meet the specific needs of Veterans, ensuring that the facilities are both functional and supportive.

VA's Commitment to Veterans

The VA's emphasis on improving aged infrastructure and investing in facilities that focus on community living and healing reflects its commitment to providing Veterans with the best possible care settings. SSPC's involvement in the Canandaigua VAMC project underscores this commitment, as our team works diligently to deliver facilities that enhance the lives of Veterans.

In summary, SSPC's participation in the Canandaigua VAMC project highlights the importance of modernizing veteran care facilities. Our team's unique blend of technical expertise and personal connection to the veteran community ensures that these facilities are designed and built with the utmost care and consideration for those they serve.
