Project Overview: VA Medical Center Infrastructure Upgrades

SteerBridge is engaged in enhancing the IT infrastructure for Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) through a series of task orders under the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Construction Management Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (CM IDIQ) contract. This project involves working closely with VA Medical Center (VAMC) engineering teams across three locations in West Virginia. Our team delivers multi-disciplinary services specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of these EHRM initiatives.

Perry Point VAMC Upgrades

At the Perry Point VA Medical Center, our scope of work includes extensive upgrades to the facility’s infrastructure to support modernized healthcare services. Key aspects of the project include:

Fiber and Network Enhancements: Upgrading fiber throughout buildings to each Telecommunications Room (TR), implementing redundant fiber runs throughout the facility to the demarcation room from the provider point, and expanding connectivity.

Data and Power Installations: Installing approximately 100 data drops and 75 electrical outlets throughout the facility, providing power in each TR, and upgrading power distribution and HVAC systems.

Physical Security and Space Improvements: Conducting physical security assessments and implementing necessary upgrades, including the reconfiguration, expansion, and renovation of existing spaces. This includes demolition, new construction, finishes, and cabling enhancements.

Data Center and WAN Upgrades: Assessing and upgrading the fiber infrastructure backbone both within buildings and between buildings, and creating a diversified path for Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity.

HAZMAT Abatement and Site Work: Ensuring hazardous materials are properly managed and mitigated, with site work covering approximately 70 TRs across 30 buildings.

Through these comprehensive upgrades, SteerBridge is committed to providing secure, reliable, and future-ready infrastructure to support the VA’s mission of delivering quality healthcare to veterans.
